The Toyota Sienna Hybrid is a family minivan that uses a standard hybrid powertrain across all trims to deliver exceptional fuel economy. The hybrid system provides a combined 245 horsepower and is available with either standard front-wheel drive (FWD) or optional electronic on-demand all-wheel drive (AWD).
Performance and efficiency
Engine: The Sienna Hybrid features a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine combined with electric motors.
Horsepower: The total combined system output is 245 net horsepower.
Fuel economy: The FWD models achieve an EPA-estimated 36 mpg combined (36 city/36 highway), making it the most fuel-efficient minivan in its class. AWD models achieve slightly less but are still very efficient at 35 mpg combined (35 city/36 highway).
Range: With its 18-gallon fuel tank, a front-wheel-drive Sienna can have a theoretical range of more than 640 miles.
Towing capacity: The Sienna Hybrid can tow up to 3,500 pounds.Hybrid powertrain features
No plug-in required: Unlike some hybrid minivans, the Sienna's hybrid system does not require you to plug it in to charge the battery. It charges itself through regenerative braking and the gasoline engine.
Electronic AWD: The available AWD system works independently of the main engine. It uses a separate electric motor to power the rear wheels when extra traction is needed, with no mechanical connection to the front wheels.
Quiet operation: The hybrid system contributes to a quiet cabin, especially at lower speeds when the minivan operates on electric power. The gasoline engine can produce a noticeable "drone" sound under hard acceleration, however.
Interior and technology
Seating and space: The Sienna Hybrid can seat up to seven or eight passengers, depending on the trim and seating configuration.
Third-row seats can be folded flat into the floor ("One-Motion-Stow Split & Stow 3rd Row" seats).
Certain trims feature "Super Long Slide" second-row captain's chairs with optional ottomans.
Family-friendly features (trim-dependent): Available amenities include hands-free power sliding side doors and liftgate, a built-in vacuum, and a FridgeBox™ center-console refrigerator.
Infotainment (2025 model): For the 2025 model year, the Sienna received an updated infotainment system, featuring a standard 8-inch touchscreen on LE trims and a 12.3-inch touchscreen on higher trims. All models have wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
Other technology: A head-up display, digital gauge cluster, and a JBL premium sound system are available on upper trims.
Safety
Standard safety features: The Toyota Safety Sense™ 2.0 suite is standard on all Sienna models. Key features include:
Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection
Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist
Lane Tracing Assist
Advanced Rear Seat Reminder: For the 2025 model year, all Siennas received an upgrade that uses radar to sense movement in the back and provides alerts.
Available safety upgrades: A Bird's Eye View camera and front and rear parking assist with automatic braking are available.
